New Beads

Ok, this is what I bought at Bead Fest:

1. Blue round chalcedony and sterling silver pendant
2. Green oval chalcedony and sterling silver pendant
3. Oval moonstone and iolite and sterling silver pendant
4. Green/blue/white freshwater nugget pearl and sterling silver necklace
5. Big beautiful strand of aquamarine rondelle beads
6. 2 strands of cherry quartz rondelle beads
7. Strand of large blue agate disc beads
8. Pair of sterling silver earrings with...some kind of orange stones. I can't figure out what they are. Amber? Maybe.

I can make something very saleable from the cherry quartz beads as well as the agate beads. The rest of the things I bought were for me. The aquamarine beads are...in a word...breathtaking.

Bead Fest

I am back in the land of the living. It's about time. It was a very, very long week and I highly recommend that you vaccinate yourself against all flu this winter. I can't be sure I had the H1N1 strain, though I very much suspect I did. I've never felt anything like it and it's miserable.

SO--today, for the first time in over a week, I got out of the house and DID something. My friend scored free passes to Bead Fest in Philly. And what IS Bead Fest? Well, let me just say this: 2 floors with countless vendors of all manner of beads.

Mmmmm. I did some damage. I can't help it. I should have called my sponsor, but I didn't. My next post will detail what I got.

2/3 of a Necklace

Last night, I went out to ArtBeat. What a nice event. There was ambient music, cool stuff to look at, delicious food and drink, and amazing workshops. I invited my neighbor Joanne to attend and when I got there, she was sitting in the knitting circle (say THAT 5 times fast!). Unfortunately, I was a few hours late, as I've been hit with some kind of awful, awful...cold? I don't know. Last night, my temperature spiked to 102 degrees before bed. It was gone this morning, but is now at 100.9 again.

Um, what? How does that happen?

My face and chest were so hot last night that it felt like I had the worst sunburn of my life. I think I could've boiled water in my eye sockets. And, of course, while hot, I had the chills. Not right.

I want to photograph the 2/3 of a necklace that I made, but my photo editing software continues to make me lose the will to live. I'll describe it instead: a 3-strand aqua tumbled howlite stone necklace, interspersed with a single red howlite tumbled bead every now and then. 2 of the 3 strands are done. I don't know what else I'm likely to finish today. I can't stop coughing.

ArtBeat!

The members of my craft collective Handmade Philly have organized a first-time event:
ArtBeat. The theme is 'Making it to Music,' and the evening will feature classes, free time for working on projects, a supply swap and an open mic.

I think the poster they designed is really stellar.

The event is happening this Saturday from 6 to 11 pm. I hope to be there and to bring a new necklace on which I want to work.

See you there!

Cobalt and Aqua Coin Earrings

I've done these earrings in green and orange, and orange and pink, and now I've done them in cobalt and aqua.

I photographed them hanging off a glass pitcher outside. I want to tell you that I sold them at my last sale, but I can't.

I think I've decided to start wearing my stuff instead of trying to sell it. We'll all be a lot happier that way. Still, I've posted them on Etsy.

Am I (Lake) Blue?

Let me ask you this: does the lake blue bead to the right look like the cobalt blue bead below?

I think the blues are very similar, which is a drag, because I want colors to be "true" when I'm trying to sell pieces. It's only fair to be accurate.

Hmmn...

Facebook Meets Jericas Jewelry Meets Project Runway

Y'all know that I'm an old-school, season 1 Project Runway freak, right?

I love it hard core.

So anyway, the other day, just to see how Facebook worked, I started a fan group for my jewelry biz. I was surprised that anyone joined it--I have yet to figure out the intricacies of how this networking software works.

Anyway, guess who has joined up with my group, as a fan? Qristyl Frazier. Who is Qristyl Frazier? She's a hot-looking contestant on the 6th season of Project Runway! Check her out:'

AWESOME.

She's totally already my favorite even though the season hasn't started yet.
