I Want This

Is is wrong to like someone else's work more than your own? I don't think so. Case in point:

I love this. I really do. And I'm not even a bracelet wearer. I just think it's unusual and unexpected. And I love how the designer balanced the beads in the final finished piece.

I take no credit for this piece whatsoever, obviously. I found it offered at the J. Jill website, though not this season. Enjoy!

Resin Earrings

Earlier this summer (yes, it's still summer), a friend and I were shopping at a local craft store and I found these resin charms. They were on sale, and I was drawn to them, probably because of the colors.

So I bought 2 each of the different designs and made earrings out of them, using sterling silver jump rings and ear wires.

Can anyone answer my frequently asked question: what is up with birds? There are birds on everything, these days. I blame Twitter.

Here, you can see the back of one of the resin charms. Most of them were frosted, slightly, but also let in some light.

And here they are at Flag Fest. Most sold...maybe even all of them, I don't recall.

Price: $10.

Sputnik Earrings

I salvaged a few shots of a pair of sputnik glass earrings that I made a long, long time ago. None of the shots of the entire pair actually surfaced, so you get just the 1:

The earrings match my kooky sputnik bracelet...as much as anything could 'match' that bracelet, of course.

The lampworked beads are about 12mm from one bump to the other.

Tri-drop Earrings

I'm still really into the lime/orange/aqua color combination.

I made these earrings a few months back, and I still haven't worn them. I intended to sell them, but no one was buying, so now they're mine.

They have great dangle and movement.

I used Czech glass rounds and sterling silver. Oddly enough, I have absolutely no memory of where I got the round beads. Who knows, maybe these are one-of-a-kind!

Price: $10.

New Banner

See the top of the blog? I slapped the banner in there, and it's animated, so you can see different pieces I've made.

It's slightly too long though. And the pix are copies of copies, so they're more grainy than I'd like.

I'm going to have to send the original shots to my personal photographer, so that he can work his magic yet again.

Back to Beading

I was recently commissioned by a friend to make her a bracelet for an upcoming event.

She wanted 3 strands of faceted jet black glass beads, connected with a sterling silver clasp.

I chose to use a magnetic clasp that had 3 rings on each side to which I could attach the 3 strands of 6mm fire-polished beads.

And, at the clasp, I added a small letter 'C,' per her wishes.

Tangent

I don't normally blog about non-jewelry things here, but I wanted to share a few snaps to let you know where I've been (and why I've been so quiet):

Still in the Weeds

I spent most of yesterday with these two and really enjoyed myself. I did see Eleanor Roosevelt's beautiful diamond necklace (she rarely wore it) and the Tiffany ring (yellow gold, small round diamonds on the shoulders, 3-carat cushion cut diamond) Franklin gave her after his proposal on her 20th birthday. Romantical!

Can't Update!

Too busy! Just came back from Fallingwater, the amazing house Frank Lloyd Wright designed in Western Pennsylvania.

Two thumbs up!

Flowers with Flowers

I thought these flower earrings were really pretty,

and so I photographed them with my own very pretty balcony flowers.

I used acrylic faceted rounds and petal-shaped beads. $3/pair or 2 pair for $5.

Someone at the WXPN trainwreck of a sale asked me if the gold was real gold. Yes. For $3, you bet. ??
