Our Story Continues

Now, Ian is a high-level staffer of the Mayor of Flagstaff, AZ, the charming and delightful Sara Presler. Mayor Presler is running for re-election. Why? Because she's a darned good mayor, that's why!

So one of Ian's friends (on the left) and I hatched a plan to buy one of my 3 Coins in the Fountain Necklaces as a gift for her. I also made a campaign contribution because, while I cannot vote for Mayor Sara, I do support her in my heart of hearts.

We chose the Ocean palette--Democrats always look best in blue!

Very Exciting Development!

I have to say that today, one of the most exciting things happened to me. Or, rather, to one of my necklaces! I plan to tell you the entire story in slow, agonizing detail, as well as sharing photos and a video! Yay!

The story begins with my friend Ian.

I don't have a picture of Ian so that will have to do.

No, no, I kid. This shot looks much more like dear, dear Ian:

But Ian in 20 years, of course. Not now. Now, he's a striking young man, full of promise.

...and our story will continue tomorrow!

Accessorizing is Important

I will have you all know that I am wearing the amethyst earrings today at the office. So there!

Amethyst and Sterling Silver Earrings

Amethyst is the birthstone for the month of February.

For these earrings, I used discs of amethyst, along with sterling silver daisy spacers. I topped the spacers with a rondelle of amethyst, and attached ear wires as the final step.

The chunks of amethyst measure approximately 1 1/4 in. in diameter, and the drop of the earring is 1 1/2 inches.
Price: $24.

Tulips

Last year, I posted a bouquet of beautiful tulips I'd bought in the Spring. Today, I'm posting shots of the bouquet of beautiful tulips my...uh...gentleman caller sent me for Valentine's Day. I was thrilled. Enjoy!

Peacock Pearl, Amethyst and Milk Glass Necklace

I recently made another peacock pearl, amethyst and milk glass necklace.

The milk glass beads are faceted briolettes, and I surrounded them with small amethyst rondelles.

I strung top-drilled egg-shaped peacock (a lilac/purple/lavender shade) freshwater pearls between the milk glass beads.

Price: $36.

PILAR TURNS 15!

My beautiful girl turns 15 today. We had a party, complete with singing!

'A chicken breast cake for me? Why...you SHOULD have!'

Blowing out the candle.

The first bite is the sweetest.

Who needs a plate? Or silverware? Or a napkin? (She actually hissed when I took back the piece of meat so that I could cut it up and put it in her bowl.)

2010's East Coast Blizzard!

I like taking photos of my jewelry out on my little balcony. I can get natural light there.

For the last few days, I've been getting nothing but natural snow there.

Thought you'd all enjoy a view of my winter wonderland!

(And these shots are from our FIRST snowfall, not our second. I'm currently enjoying the 2nd of my snow days. YAY!)

Cats During Blizzards

This is what cats do during East Coast blizzards (28.5 inches in Philly, people!): they hunker down and take cover.

Creativity in Late January

Baby bib!

A few Sundays ago, I attended a very exclusive party. It was Chloe Jean's 1st birthday and we had a very good time. We partied 'til we had cake in our ears. Which took about 6 minutes.

I had decided that I was going to make a monetary gift to Chloe's 529 college fund, and had been working on it all year, but then I realized that kids like things in gift bags. So I got the tiniest gift bag I could find (honestly, it was about 3 inches tall by 2 inches wide--perfect for a tiny person) and put this handmade bib into it. I gave Chloe a bluebird of happiness on a heart, as well as a purple cupcake with a single candle. It's never too early to introduce appreciation for a good cupcake, in my opinion.
